Dear: AHHS Alumni, Families, and Friends

The Arlington Heights baseball program has a storied history. In 1996 they won their first 4A State Championship title. In 2006 Heights was State Runner-up, and in 1998, 2000, and 2009 these teams made it to the State Semi-Finals.

In 1990, Arlington Heights built their “Field of Dreams”. We were the first school in FWISD to have our own baseball field on campus.

Head Coach Tommy Elliott has been impacting kids’ lives for 34 years. Late last spring, just as the playoffs were about to start, a single parent felt the impact that Coach Elliott had made on her two sons. That parent made an unsolicited, substantial contribution to the baseball program. Over the years, Coach Elliott had been saving every penny he could to build his “Field of Dreams II”. As a result of that contribution, Coach Elliott’s dream became a vision. With the help of local community leaders, foundations, FWISD board members and staff, and parents, his dream has become a reality.

Construction began in November to replace the grass infield with a synthetic all weather turf, move the backstop back to gain more foul territory, replace the old bleachers with new stadium style seating, remove the chain link fence behind home plate and replace it with friendly spectator netting. We are also building a storage facility beneath the new bleachers and replacing the press box.

As with any project, it would be sad not to finish it right. We would like to build an iron and brick entrance to the baseball area, add raised bleachers just behind the first base dugout and replace the outfield chain link fence with a new blue solid metal fence. In order to complete our “Field of Dreams II” project, we need to raise an additional $42,000.

I am asking you to please consider sponsoring one or two fence panels at a cost of $500 each. Every family, person, or company that supports the “Field of Dreams II” with a donation of $500 or more will be recognized on a bronze plaque to be placed under the oak tree within the baseball facility.

We would appreciate any support that you can give, even if not a complete fence panel. Every dollar will go towards the improvement of our facility. Also, please remember to ask your employer if they offer a matching gifts program. Many companies will match what their employees donate, dollar for dollar, thus doubling your contributions.
