However, if you recently observed that the Yellow Jacket weathervane was missing and assumed it was removed for repair during the painting, you’re wrong…there’s a thief lurking!  Sometime during the painting and renovating, the Yellow Jacket disappeared, and no one knows who took it.  Neta Alexander, the Principal at AHHS, has put the responsibility on the contractor who was using the scaffolding.  Even though it was surrounded by a chain-link security fence and well-lighted at night (it’s really pretty if you haven’t seen the cupola with lights in it), someone managed to snatch it.

 

Does some Paschal student or alum know anything about it?  That has continued to be a theory since the first weathervane – a panther (Fort Worth was called the “Panther City” in the early days) – disappeared during football season in the 60’s.  No one ever “fessed up” on that one, nor was it ever recovered!

 

Replacing the weathervane with a Yellow Jacket this time and “bronzing the dome” – covering the painted dome roof with copper - brought the cupola back to its original beauty several years ago.  What a wonderful improvement it was!  This was a project of your Alumni Association and supported by a fund-raising All Class Party.

 

If anyone has any information about the theft, you are encouraged to help us.  We really are mourning the loss and we want it back in its place – especially now that the cupola is painted and lighted as it should be!  Also, in case we have to replace it, if anyone remembers where we had the original Yellow Jacket fabricated, would you please contact us with that information? Our records were destroyed and our memory fails us…
