Your Yellow Jacket Newsletter Is Now Published On-Line
Hi! And welcome to our new venue for Heights News!!!
For many years you received printed "Yellow Jacket" newsletters from your Alumni Association. These came several times a year and covered such things as class reunion news and pictures, what’s going on at Heights, scholarship recipients, lists of donors to the Scholarship Fund, officers of the Alumni Association, lists of classmates who were deceased, and information about how to join the Association or donate to the Scholarship Endowment Fund.
There are so many dynamic changes in the way we communicate today – the Internet, websites, FaceBook, Twitter to name a few. Our younger alumni, especially, gravitate toward electronic means of communicating with their friends and the world.
At the same time, the costs of printing and mailing a newsletter have risen enormously. And the time and efforts involved in publishing a printed edition of the Jacket Journal made it difficult to get news to you in a timely way.
So, the Alumni Association’s Board voted to take advantage of the existing technology and turn to electronic means of communication. That means we will publish the Jacket Journal on-line from now on. Not only is it much more cost-effective, but also we feel it meets the needs of more of our AHHS alums and is much more easily accessed by those who are interested in keeping in touch with high school friends or just enjoying some memories this website may invoke.
Please understand that this website is your website. You are invited to contact us with your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, corrections or whatever. We want you to be involved with making this site what you want it to be for yourself and others. The more folks involved with creating a wonderful space, the better that space will be. We anticipate that it will be dynamic and ever-changing to meet the needs of many different ages and types of people who have all had the same experience of going to high school at Arlington Heights.
And we would also welcome your help with any of your suggestions. The beauty of electronic communication is that you don’t have to live in Fort Worth or nearby to actively participate in keeping our website fresh and to keep us aware of new areas of exploration. With alums living around the world, now, we can all easily have the opportunity to be a part of this emerging effort.
We’re extra proud of our efforts on your behalf and we hope you enjoy what we have to offer!
