Meet Our 2011 Scholarship Recipients!Your Alumni Association's $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to one boy and one girl based on financial need, volunteerism and leadership in both the community and to AHHS. 2011 AHHS Alumni Association Scholarship Recipients
Chandler Marie Corbielle Besides competitive cheerleading and cheering for Heights, she was on the swim team and the Heights Performing Arts Dance program.
She won an award in Chemistry for maintaining the highest average among the entire 10th grade class. Her GPA was 3.72 and she was ranked 93rd in her class. She received a University Interscholastic League ( Chandler has a natural calling for being a leader. She volunteered as a student assistant with special needs students at Heights. She has assisted with classroom activities and field trips. She was the student aid for the special education L.I.N.C. (Loving in Natural Community) class at Heights for 2 years. Her dream is to one day create an organization that would involve a special needs cheerleading team for kids and a sports camp for special needs children. Chandler has worked with Special Olympics, Tarrant County Food Bank, Young Life, Fellowship for Christian Athletes, Race for the Cure, Cheer for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, attended mission trips and has been babysitting for several families as well as starting and running her own photography business for the past 3 years. In yet another volunteer opportunity, she raised money and purchased and packaged items for Christmas gifts for Haitian orphans for the past 4 years. Chandler will be attending The University of Oklahoma this fall. She has already been selected to be a cheerleader. She will major in Special Education.
Robert “Paxton” Martin He was a student staff member of Kid Power where he served as Treasurer. In addition, he was a member of the AHHS Link Crew Leader, assisting freshman in their transitions into high school.
Paxton volunteered his time with Kids Who Care, performing over 160 hours of community service. He is currently on the Board of Directors and is employed at Kids Who Care. His recommendation from the Founding Director of Kids Who Care was outstanding.

Arielle Herrera Arielle plans to attend TCU and will major in math. While at AHHS, she has participated in volleyball and the Hispanic Youth Association. She has also been a Radio Shack Scholar, Yellow Jacket Scholar and also a member of the National Honors Society. Joshua Nguyen Joshua plans to attend Texas A&M to pursue Engineering. At AHHS, he has been active in playing tennis, participating at the city-wide and regional levels. He has also been a leader in the Math and Chess clubs. Joshua has also been a Radio Shack and Yellow Jacket Scholar.

Shannon Kelley
While at AHHS, Shannon was Senior Class President and on the Student Council, a cheerleader, a member of the Performing Heights Dance group and was in the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She was a peer minister at her church and a mentor at South Hi Mount Elementary and has work ![]() With a GPA of 4.696, Shannon is ranked 7/368 in her class. She will be attending the University of Texas to study nursing and plans to get her Masters Degree in nurse anesthesia.
John Coleman
John played football at AHHS, was All-District and Captain and was on the Leadership Council, the Academic All-State Team and the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year. He was the Power-Lifting Captain, ran Track and participated in Wrestling. Active in the Boy Scouts, he was Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster, and an Eagle Scout, participated in the Twin Arrow Junior Leadership Training as Troop Guide and received the Order of the Arrow. He also was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Heading for Texas A&M, John will be majoring in petroleum engineering. He is also interested in their study abroad program as he feels it will give him a good opportunity to learn more, not just in his major but with different cultures and people.
